Exploring Takami Shrine (高見神社) in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka

Come with me as I explore Takami Shrine in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka, Japan.  There are 12 deities enshrined at Takami Shrine. Folklore has it that around 200 CE Empress Jingu visited the hill and prayed for a successful military victory in the southern part of what is now the Korean peninsula. At this moment she enshrined 12 ancestral deities of the royal family at this location creating Takami Shrine.
